Staffelsee:

Staffelsee is a lake encompassing 7,7 km². It has within its shores seven islands and is truly one of the most beautiful and idyllic lakes in Bavaria. Due to its wetland surroundings, the lake water is well known as having the warmest temperatures in the area. The maximum depth of the lake is 42 meters with the average depth situated at 9.8 meters. The entire shoreline measures 18 km, with the inclusion of the islands, brings this to 25 km.

The Passenger Ship:

The passenger ship, which was build by Lux-Werft in the spring 2009, has a capacity of 270 seats. There are two seating areas, one in a heated salon for 100 persons and an upper deck for 170 persons with a panormic view. There are bathroom facilities in the salon. On board there are concessions for purchase including ice cream an cold beverages. The ship is also outfitted for wheel chair accessibility.

The Journey:

Staffelsee lies 60 kilometers from Munich and is reachable by train from the main train station in Munich to the train station in Murnau or by car via the autobahn Munich - Garmisch-Partenkirchen with an exit at either Sindelsdorf or Murnau.

Hikingtip:

There is a beautiful hiking/tour path, wich invites you to circle the entire lake an which is a distance of 22 km. This hiking path around the lake can be easily shortened by crossing over the lake at certain points. The hiking distance between the docking sites of Achele and Uffing consists of approximately 13 kilometers and follows along the south shore of the lake and later along the Staffelsee wetland. This consists of a touring time of approximately 2.5 hours.
